SIGNATURES REQUIRED!!

Hi everyone,

We are at the halfway point for obtaining signatures for the petition “Hon. Mary Polak: Spousal Support:  Support change not spouses.” and wanted to see if you could help by adding your name.

As I don’t know who has signed and who has not I just need to keep posting and asking everyone to share!

For those of you that are directly effected by this or your friends or family are, you will already know how impossible this is for those we love who are trying to do the right thing for their children and family.

Our goal is to reach 100 signatures and we need more support. You can read more and sign the petition here:

Thanks so much for your support!

SHARED: 7 Tips for the Parent Whose Relationship with Their Child is Restricted — Gary Direnfeld, MSW, RSW

Many parents with severely restricted relationships to their children hold tremendous rage or anger at agencies, institutions, courts or the custodial parent. However, their limited relationship may be more a consequence of their responses to problems, than the problems directly. Provocation by others cannot be used to excuse their own behavior if inappropriate or worse, […]

Shared: Arguing with a Narcissist – YouTube Video —

My YouTube Channel has hit over a thousand views in about three weeks. I have no way of knowing if that is “typical” or below average or whatever. In this excerpt from my interview with Rackham Karlsson, I discuss the marketing funnel: I swung into private practice the late part of 1989, beginning of 1990. I was a social worker in a medical setting. I was unsatisfied with the quality of service in that setting, as a result swung into private practice. I did […]

Stepmom vs. Stepdad

Just a question to throw out there since I’m wide awake in the middle of the night…..lol

Do any of you feel that there is a double standard with stepdads vs. stepmoms?

On TV shows, radio and even reading articles it always seems that the men that “step up and step in” to raise another mans child/ren are the most amazing people on earth yet the stepmoms still seem to get the short end of the stick and dealing with a whole lotta hell.

I’m not personally saying that they have it easy, but just noticed that there definitely seems to be a divide and I wondered why? Is it as bio-dads really don’t have as many issues as bio-moms do with regard to someone else helping to raise their children? Do they simply move on quicker and not hold as much bitterness?

Any opinions on this would be interesting to hear. TIA!

Stepmom, Bonus Mom…..Smommy….who am I???

….well….I am me!

I am a VERY important adult figure in the lives of two wonderful little boys that are now my stepsons. Married to their Father whom I love DEARLY, I have embarked on the ugly AND beautiful life of a Smom. I am not out here to steal the “womb factor” from anyone. Not here to down other step-parents or bio parents…nothing like that. Just here to attempt to offer insight, knowledge, experience, some tears and some laughs with those that are sharing the same path and enduring the roller coaster that is step-parenthood. There will be parenting stuff, step-parenting support and stories, recipes, educational info, child development info, local course/workshop info for Vancouver, BC, Canada as well as everyday ramblings.
